Drunk Jenga

Drunk Jenga is just Jenga. Except every block has a task written on it. Pull a block and you do what it says. And whoever knocks the tower over is in trouble. In the Netherlands it's called Jenga drankspel.

The best part is that you make the game yourself. Every group writes different tasks. So no night is ever the same.

Setting up

In Drunk Jenga you write tasks on the blocks of a Jenga tower before you start. Think "take 2 sips" or "hand out 3 sips". Then you play Jenga like you always do.

The difference is in every block you pull. You read it out loud. Whatever it says, you have to do.

  1. Grab a Jenga tower. A cheap wooden stacking tower works just as well.
  2. Write a task on the blocks with a marker. You don't have to fill them all. An empty block is a free pass.
  3. Build the tower. Three blocks per layer and every layer crosswise on the one below.
  4. Get a drink ready for everyone.

How to play

  1. Pick who goes first.
  2. Pull a block from the tower using one hand.
  3. Read the task out loud and do it right away.
  4. Put the block on top of the tower.
  5. Next player's turn.
  6. Tower falls over? Then you down an adtje, your whole drink in one go.

Ideas for tasks

Drinking tasks

  • Take 2 sips.
  • Hand out 3 sips.
  • Everyone drinks.
  • Pick a drinking buddy. They drink along with you for the rest of the game.
  • Waterfall. Everyone drinks until you stop.

Rules for the rest of the game

  • Nobody is allowed to say "drink" anymore.
  • You can only drink with your left hand.
  • Whoever laughs, drinks.
  • Cancel a rule.

Group tasks

  • Pick a category. Just like in Kingsen, everyone names something in turn. Can't think of anything? Drink.
  • Never have I ever. Whoever has done it, drinks.
  • Count to 3 and point at someone. Whoever gets the most fingers, drinks.
  • The person on your left gives you an anytimer.

When do you drink?

Most of the time the blocks tell you. On top of that, these rules apply.

  • Tower falls over? You down your drink.
  • A block drops out of the tower during your turn? Take 2 sips.
  • Taking too long? Take 1 sip.

Extra rules for more chaos

  • Touch a block? Then you have to take that block.
  • Play with your weak hand.
  • You get 10 seconds per turn.
  • Whoever knocks the tower over rebuilds it and writes a new task.
