Beer chug timer
Time your chug for free with this chugging timer. It works right in your browser, on your phone or laptop. Tap and release the blue screen to start. Tap again when your beer or other drink is gone.
It's the same Any timer as in the AnyTimerApp. You see your time down to a hundredth of a second.
How the chug timer works
- Tap the blue screen and keep your finger on it. The timer jumps to zero.
- Let go. From that moment the clock is running.
- Chug. Finish your beer in one go.
- Tap the screen. The timer stops and you see your time.
The timer only starts when you let go. So you know exactly when the time begins.
On a laptop the space bar works too. Press it, let go and press again.
Why the 3 second wait after every time?
After stopping, the timer locks for 3 seconds. That's on purpose. This way you can't mistap or double tap by accident and lose your time.
So you can hit the screen anywhere you like. A double tap won't ruin your time. You focus on your chug, not on the timer.
What is a drinking timer?
A drinking timer, or beer timer, measures how fast you finish a drink. Usually that's a chug: a glass of beer in one go. The clock runs from the moment you let go until you tap again. So you see exactly who's fastest.
You use a drinking timer for things like:
- A chugging contest against your housemates.
- A boat race, the team relay where everyone chugs in turn. Time the whole team and try to beat your record.
- A lost bet or an anytimer someone just used.
- Drinking games where speed counts, like Beerio Kart.
How to chug a beer faster
Want a better time on the chug timer? These tips help.
- Pick a drink that isn't too fizzy. Bubbles slow you down.
- Take a breath before you let go of the screen.
- Tilt your head and the glass back at the same time.
- Don't take small gulps. Open your throat and let it flow.
And know your limit. A fast time isn't worth a bad night.
Why the Dutch call it an adt timer
In the Netherlands a chug is called an adtje. Everyone spells it differently. Adtje, atje or adje. So Dutch students search for an adt timer, ad timer or at timer. It's all the same thing: a timer for your chug.
New to it? Read what an adtje is and where the word comes from.
Prefer a physical timer like AdtMeister or a stopwatch? We compared every option in the best chug timer.

Want more out of your chugs?
The same timer is in the AnyTimerApp. And there you can do more. In competitive mode you film yourself with the front camera while the timer runs. So you always have proof of your time.
Then you post your attempt with a comment to the leaderboard. Your friends see your time and can try to beat it. The fastest time is at the top. Your own chugging contest with friends, and no more arguments about who was fastest.
