What does Adten mean?
Adten (or atten) means downing your drink in one go. It is similar to chugging and usually happens when someone uses an anytimer.
"You lost the bet, so now you have to adten," his housemate shouted across the room.
Dutch student slang. This is a Dutch word. You will hear it a lot at Dutch universities, student associations and in student houses.
The verb comes from adtje. If someone gives you an adtje, you finish your drink in one go. No breaks. Using a straw makes it even faster, and that is called a rietadt. In English you would call it chugging. Also read about anytimer and chug.
