Dutch student slang
What does Bodem leggen mean?
Bodem leggen means eating a proper meal before you start drinking, so you don't get drunk as fast.
Before the borrel started, he quickly ate a plate of pasta to bodem leggen.
Dutch student slang. This is a Dutch word. You will hear it a lot at Dutch universities, student associations and in student houses.
It literally means "laying a foundation". The idea is simple. With a full stomach your body takes in alcohol slower. That lowers the chance of a hangover, or worse, a barf. Smart move before pre-drinks.
