What does Dive bar mean?
A dive bar is a simple, cheap bar without any fuss.
"Forget the cocktail bar. We're going to that dive bar around the corner, beer is two euros there."
Dive bar sounds negative, but it is often said with love. It is about places that feel real and relaxed. Sticky floor, old jukebox and regulars at the bar. The Dutch version is the bruin café, the brown cafe. Students love them. Also read about pub and happy hour.
