What does Bottoms up mean?
Bottoms up is a toast that tells everyone to empty their glass.
"To the birthday girl! Bottoms up!"
With bottoms up the bottom of your glass goes up. So you drink it all. It is a lot like the Latin "ad fundum", where the Dutch adtje comes from. People shout it at birthdays or at the start of a night. Also read about cheers, adten and chug.
