What does Major mean?
A major is your main field of study, especially in the American system.
"My major is economics, but I also take philosophy courses."
In the US you pick a major and often a minor too. The major is the biggest part of your degree. Dutch university colleges work the same way. At other Dutch universities you just call it your programme. Also read what elective means.
