What does Seminar mean?
A seminar is a small class built around discussion and taking part.
"In the seminar I had to summarise the article. I had only read the title."
A seminar has fewer students than a lecture. There is more talking, asking and discussing. So you do need to prepare. In the Netherlands it is often called a werkgroep or werkcollege. Also read about tutorial and office hours.
