Dutch student slang. This is a Dutch word. You will hear it a lot at Dutch universities, student associations and in student houses.
Depending on the city you also hear GR, GK or fusie for the same room. The meaning is always the same. It is where the house hangs out, eats and argues about the dishes. Also read what flatmate means.
